Subscription Terms
Recurring-billing terms for BambooPaper subscriptions — mandate generation, auto-debit consent, pre-debit notification, cancellation mechanics and refunds, written to RBI's e-Mandate framework.
Last updated:
These Subscription Terms supplement the general Terms & Conditions and apply specifically to the BambooPaper Subscribe-and-Save service operated by Agochar Tech LLP. They cover the recurring-billing mechanics required by the Reserve Bank of India's e-Mandate framework (RBI/2019-20/89, August 2019; amended December 2020 and March 2021) and the National Payments Corporation of India's UPI Autopay specification.
1. What you're subscribing to
A BambooPaper subscription is a recurring purchase of the products in your subscription cart at the cadence you selected: Monthly, Every 2 Months, or Quarterly. Each cycle places a fresh order that is fulfilled exactly like a one-time order — same Shiprocket delivery, same invoice, same return window.
The subscription cycle total is fixed at signup based on the cart shape (variants × quantities) and the cadence discount (10% monthly, 12% every-2-months, 15–20% quarterly). The total does not change between cycles unless you swap items or change cadence from your account.
2. Mandate generation and consent
Recurring debit on BambooPaper.in is processed by Razorpay using one of three RBI-compliant authorisation methods, whichever you select at signup:
- UPI Autopay — a mandate registered with your bank via the NPCI UPI 2.0 specification. Your bank shows a "Pending Mandate" in your UPI app (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM) which you must approve once. Subsequent debits do not require approval.
- NACH eMandate — a National Automated Clearing House mandate registered with your bank, authorised via Aadhaar OTP or Net Banking debit-card challenge.
- Card tokenisation — a tokenised, RBI-compliant version of your credit/debit card. The actual 16-digit card number never leaves Razorpay; we store only the token.
You will be redirected to Razorpay's hosted page to complete the authorisation flow. Once authorised, your subscription becomes Active and the first cycle is debited per the schedule below.
By completing mandate authorisation, you give Agochar Tech LLP a standing instruction to debit your account or card for the agreed cycle total at each cycle date, up to the per-debit cap configured during authorisation (this is the "Additional Factor of Authentication" (AFA) cap required by RBI; debits within the cap do not require fresh OTP / biometric approval).
3. Pre-debit notification
Under RBI's e-Mandate framework you receive a pre-debit notification at least 24 hours before each cycle. For BambooPaper subscriptions this is sent:
- By Razorpay (regulator-mandated) — email + SMS to the contact details on your mandate.
- By BambooPaper (additional) — email to your account email with the upcoming charge amount, the products shipping that cycle, and one-tap links to skip the next cycle or pause.
You have 24 hours after the pre-debit notification to skip, pause, swap items, change cadence or cancel before the debit is initiated. Within that window, any change you make in your account portal takes effect for the imminent cycle.
4. Debit failures and dunning
If a cycle debit fails (insufficient balance, card expired, mandate revoked at the bank, network failure), Razorpay automatically retries on its standard RBI-compliant retry schedule. While the retries are pending, your subscription status is shown as "Payment failing" in your account portal.
After Razorpay's final retry, if the debit still fails the subscription is set to Halted and no further cycles are attempted until you update your payment method (re-authorise mandate from the account portal). We will email you to walk you through it.
5. Cancellation
You can cancel at any time, from your account at My Subscriptions, in one tap: no phone call, no retention script, no cancellation fee.
Cancellation takes effect:
- Immediately for the next un-charged cycle (you will not be debited again).
- Existing in-flight shipments that have already been packed continue to their destination — the standard 7-day return window applies if you don't want them.
The mandate itself is also cancelled at Razorpay so no future BambooPaper debit can occur. To revoke ALL mandates on your account (including potential future subscriptions), use your bank's UPI app "Manage Mandates" section or email us and we'll arrange it.
6. Pause, skip, swap items, change cadence
All four are self-serve in your account portal. There is no limit to how many times you can pause or skip. When you swap items or change cadence, Razorpay requires a fresh mandate (the Plan amount changes); the portal walks you through re-authorisation on Razorpay's hosted page. The old subscription is cancelled atomically as the new one is created so you don't end up double-billed.
7. Refunds on subscription cycles
Refund policy for subscription orders is the same as for one-time orders — full policy at /refunds/:
- 7 days from delivery for unopened, undamaged packs — full refund to the original payment method (the same card / UPI account that the mandate debits) within 5–7 business days of pickup.
- Damaged or defective packs are replaced or refunded immediately, no questions asked.
- Wrong-cycle refund — if a cycle debit was triggered by error on our side (system bug, mis-configured mandate), email us within 7 days for a no-deduction refund of the entire cycle.
8. Price changes
We may revise product prices to reflect raw-material, freight or GST-rate changes. Existing subscriptions are price-locked for the next cycle: any price change takes effect from the cycle after the next one, and we email you at least 14 days before the new price applies. You can cancel or change items in that window with no penalty.
9. Data handling
Mandate data (UPI VPA, bank tokenisation reference, card token) is held by Razorpay under RBI's tokenisation framework — we never see or store the raw card number. BambooPaper holds only:
- The Razorpay subscription ID and plan ID
- The cycle history (cycle number, amount debited, payment ID, status)
- The shipping address you chose at signup
More on data handling at /privacy/.
10. Disputes and grievance redressal
Subscription billing disputes can be raised directly with Razorpay (the payment aggregator) or with us by email to hello@bamboopaper.in. We respond within one business day. Per RBI's Master Direction on Payment Aggregators, unresolved disputes can be escalated to Razorpay's nodal officer (details on razorpay.com/grievance-redressal) or to the RBI Ombudsman.
11. Governing law
These Subscription Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Rajkot, Gujarat.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms to reflect regulatory or operational changes. Material changes (anything that affects how or when you are debited, or how you can cancel) are emailed to active subscribers at least 14 days before they take effect. The current version always lives at /subscription-terms/ with the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
